Somatherapy Institute School of Massage, formerly known as Desert Resorts of Somatherapy, was founded in 1991 in Desert Hot Springs, California. Over the years, the school served communities throughout the Coachella Valley before establishing its final campus in Rancho Mirage.

Somatherapy remained a privately owned private postsecondary school. Throughout its history, each owner shared the goal of providing students with exceptional training at an affordable price. The school was known for its high educational standards, adherence to state guidelines, specialized instructors, indepth coursework, extensive hands-on training, and its beloved student clinic, which was open to the public.

The curriculum was particularly recognized for its courses rooted in Eastern and Western modalities, Lomi Lomi, medical massage, energy work, and other bodywork applications. Each course was taught by a specialized instructor with extensive education and real-world experience in that field.

On behalf of Somatherapy’s former owners, students, and staff, I would like to thank our patrons and everyone who helped make the school everything that it was. We could not have done it without you.

Thank you for the many years of trust, encouragement, and support. Closing the school was an incredibly difficult decision. However, we hope this represents not simply an ending, but the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another.
